The counter
to
the
floor
it falls once
maybe twice
In my bag it tumbles
from the bus seat
to
the
ground
time and time again
Off the table
to
the
tiles
sometimes open
sometimes closed
From the couch
to
the
rug
it tumbles down
down
down
After every
fall
to the floor
the ground
the tiles
the rug
my trusty computer
shines it’s lights
with bravery
and pride
for surviving another
near-death encounter
The lives remaining
dwindle
The end
drawing
near
Rainbow lines
pixilations
appear
glimmering
across the screen
distorting
my words
Yes
the end is near
You kept me on the edge of your seat…I was wondering what you were dropping. I should have known! You need to get a new laptop, or at least a heavy duty case to take the blows easier. Nice work on creating suspense with your poem!
Great poem! Love that you picked an ordinary event and made it into an enjoyable poem.
Oooh…I’m with Elsie – line up that new laptop!
I like the poetry part, but not that your computer is dying. 😦
Sadly I think you’d better start shopping for a new computer. I wondered what you kept dropping as I read. I’m sorry it’s something pricey, I was hoping for a travel mug (I tend to drop mine). But glad it held out so you could post today. Welcome back!
So, do computers have nine lives just like a cat? I know that mine does with all it has been through. Love your poem.
